True North Construction is a North East based business established in February 2019

The business is run by David Roberts and Steven Henderson who have over 40 years joint experience in the building trade. We are supported by our ever-growing team of skilled tradesmen and office-based staff. True North Construction has built a solid reputation for delivering a superior bespoke service across the North East.

We specialise in delivering both contemporary and modern high-end extensions, refurbishments and bespoke new builds across Northumberland, Tyne & Wear and County Durham as well as being one of the few regional and award-winning specialists in the construction of certified Passivhaus homes. Our team of dedicated professionals bring decades of combined experience, expertise and passion to every project, ensuring unparalleled craftsmanship and client satisfaction.

True North work tirelessly to produce a high-quality bespoke finish whilst managing the delivery of the project – on time, safely and within budget. We do this by developing close working relationships with our clients, other local trades and architects. We are passionate about the use of novel building materials and techniques and have vast experience working with environmentally conscious products.

Meet our team

David

David is one of our two directors at True North Construction. David works well with our clients and has a passion for moving the business forward and developing our Passivhaus building strategy. David enjoys his family time and the odd ginger snap here and there.

Steven

Steven is one of our two directors. He loves to be hands on onsite with the lads and has an eye for detail. Steven is an expert at getting the team to produce the high-quality finish that True North is well known for. Steven’s favourite food is a Greggs, and his favourite song is Welcome to Miami by Will Smith.

Laura

Laura has been part of True North since the beginning, mainly hiding in the background, until summer 2022 when she joined the team officially. Laura is part of the administration team taking on roles linked to health & safety, job planning and finance. Laura enjoys watching NUFC and walking her dog.

Natalie

Natalie joined True North in 2021 as administrative support but has really been here since day one. She quickly developed an efficient organisation system to control the financial side of the business. She is a whizz at payroll and pensions and is our go to HR department. Natalie’s favourite food is fajitas and she enjoys spa days.

Anthony

Anthony has just joined True North Construction at the start of 2024 coming on board as a joiner. His favourite food is Chinese and he enjoys football.

BeN

Ben is our bricklaying apprentice and has been with True North since leaving school. He is very enthusiastic and happy to help. Ben’s hobbies are darts and football, whilst partial to a kebab or two.

Connor

Connor has been with True North for four years and has proven to be a reliable team member. He is a multi-skilled tradesperson who can turn his hand to any task required. His favourite food is surf n’ turf and he enjoys shooting.

Daniel

Daniel is a recent addition to True North. He has just qualified with his level 2 in Carpentry and Joinery and at 6ft 7in he is always useful to have around. Daniel’s favourite TV show is Clarkson’s Farm and favourite food is spaghetti bolognese.

Harry

Harry is one of our original True North team, the first employee we ever took on. He is just starting out his career as a joiner after completing his apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery. He is hard working, reliable and always has a cheeky grin for whoever he meets.

Jack

Jack joined True North in late 2023 and quickly fit into the True North family. As a qualified joiner with site management experience, he is proving to be a valuable asset to the company. Jack’s favourite food is Carbonara and favourite film is Back to the Future.

Jamie

Jamie joined True North as a groundworker in 2023. He brings with him a wide variety of experience across the private and commercial sectors and has been a great asset to True North fitting in well in a site supervisory role. Jamie’s favourite film is Gladiator and he enjoys going to the Pub.

jimmy

Jimmy is one of our joiners who is training up to become a site supervisor. He works hard, always ready to muck in and help out with any task. Jimmy’s favourite food is toad in the hole, and he enjoys watching wrestling and NUFC.

keith

Keith is one of our site managers and has been with True North since virtually the beginning. He is a very experienced joiner and safe pair of hands. He has shown great skill and patience working with our apprentices and is a key part of their development at work. Keith is a big fan of hot n’ spicy foods.

kevin

Kevin has joined the True North Group as our in-house electrician. He has been an integral part in setting up and developing True North Electrical Services Ltd. Kevin is keen on MMA and his favourite film is Saving Private Ryan.

Lee

Lee is currently completing his level 2 in Carpentry & Joinery before planning to move onto his level 3 in summer 2024. He is becoming a skilled finishing joiner but enjoys spending time in the workshop and onsite. He always puts the effort in to produce a high-quality job.

Mick

Mick is our finishing joiner; he can be found mostly in our workshop. He produced work for both True North Construction and our furniture company True North Bespoke. Mick is highly skilled and produces high quality work to millimetre perfection. He is always handy to have around if you’re hungry with his bag full of sweets and his trusty toastie maker.

tayler

Tayler is True North’s Contracts Manager. He is a new addition to the team in 2024 and has thrown himself fully into the role. He is making a great impact, and his many roles include leading staff development and heading up our health and safety team. Tayler is keen on Fitness, spending time with the family and eating good food.
